As part of our commitment to community health and wellbeing, we aim for this new playground to become a small corner of comfort for children undergoing medical treatment. While clinical care heals the body, emotional support is equally essential—and moments of play can play a meaningful role in a child’s healing process.
Since its establishment in Cambodia, Japan Heart has supported over 14,000 inpatients, including around 2,900 children who received care through its services. With its expanded presence in Kandal province, the organization continues to reach more communities in need of accessible, high-quality pediatric care.
Dr. Hideto Yoshioka, Founder of Japan Heart, shared, “Our vision for this new hospital is to create a place where children want to come, and a hospital that can serve as a model for pediatric healthcare across Asia. What we value most is bringing a sense of ordinary childhood life into the hospital — a place where children feel safe, can smile, and experience moments of joy.”
He added, “The playground we celebrate today is one expression of that philosophy. For children, play is simply part of everyday life. Here they can laugh, run, fall, and stand up again. We hope that scenes like these will become a natural part of daily life in this hospital.”
