Dai-ichi Life Cambodia recently donated USD 25,000 and food packages to the Japan Heart’s Children Medical Center (“Japan Heart”) so the organization can continue to serve more patients and to construct a new hospital building in Kandal province. As Dai-ichi Life marks its 5th anniversary in Cambodia, the contribution highlights our dedication to social responsibility and fosters a strong Japanese-Cambodian connection through quality healthcare.

The handover ceremony was held at Japan Heart with the presence of Dr. Hor Sovathana, Deputy Director General of the Insurance Regulator of Cambodia, Mr. Mah Kin Yoong, Acting CEO of Dai-ichi Life, Chairman and Members of the Board of Director of Dai-ichi Life, Dr. Maiko Kojiro, Director of Japan Heart, and the management team from Dai-ichi Life and Japan Heart.

Japan Heart, a specialized Japanese medical center, has been providing free healthcare and treatment to Cambodians since 2004. In 2023 alone, Japan Heart helped over 30,000 adult and paediatric patients access free medical and surgical treatments, especially for children diagnosed with cancer. Dai-ichi Life, a leading Japanese Life insurer, has been a committed partner to Japan Heart since the company first arrived in Cambodia. Their previous contributions include surgical and medical equipment donations, support for blood donation drive, and other vital in-kind assistance.

“We are incredibly grateful for the donation from Dai-ichi Life. This contribution will support our continued effort in providing life-saving treatment and healthcare to more patients,” said Dr. Maiko Kojiro, Director of Japan Heart. “With our long-term commitment to Cambodia, partnering with a dedicated company like Dai-ichi Life is essential in ensuring a brighter, healthier future for the community,” she added.

“Dai-ichi Life is committed to not only protecting the financial future but also supporting a healthier community. This donation to help more patients, especially children, access the critical care they deserve is a vital piece of our commitment. I am proud of this long-term partnership with Japan Heart and look forward to more meaningful initiatives together and contributing to the community’s well-being,” Mr. Mah Kin Yoong, Acting CEO of Dai-ichi Life Cambodia.
